Lisbon Ranked the World’s Third Most Liveable City by Monocle in 2026

Lisbon has been ranked the third most liveable city in the world in Monocle’s Quality of Life Survey 2026, reinforcing the Portuguese capital’s position as one of the most attractive cities for international residents.

The annual ranking evaluates cities across factors including safety, connectivity, governance, green space and overall urban experience. In its assessment of Lisbon, Monocle highlights the city’s safety, extensive public transport network, international connectivity, vibrant independent retail and growing cultural offering, alongside its natural advantages, including approximately 2,806 hours of sunshine per year.

Lisbon ranked behind only Tokyo and Copenhagen, and ahead of cities including Vienna, Sydney, Zurich, Madrid, Paris and Stockholm.
